Speaker Bio

Ragini Bal Mahesh is a doctoral researcher at the Microwave and Radar Institute of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and a Ph.D. candidate in the Computer Vision and Remote Sensing Group at Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin). Her research lies at the intersection of computer vision and Earth observation, with a particular focus on synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and interferometric SAR (InSAR) data. She develops physics-aware hybrid models and domain-aware self-supervised learning methods that bridge traditional remote sensing approaches and modern deep learning techniques. Her broader research interests include Earth observation foundation models and multi-task learning for retrieving biophysical parameters such as forest height and biomass.
